Attention New York Associates:
The New York Next Step Program open enrollment period
for the Fall 2011 semester has ended. Thank you to all who registered.
What is the Next Step in the process?
As we work on finalizing the registration details, the next step is to begin
working on the college entrance test qualifying process.
* If you have already successfully completed your college's entrance exam,
you will be moved into the qualified pool of candidates.
* If you have not been previously tested, did not successfully pass all four sections
of the qualifying tests,
or need to be tested because your college selection has changed (if you previously registered for and tested at a SUNY college
and
you are now applying to a
CUNY college, you will have to be tested on the qualifying tests administered
for CUNY applicants.
*Note - the CUNY colleges are Bronx CC, NYC Technical College in Brooklyn and Queensborough CC, all other colleges are SUNY colleges),
we will begin the process of determining who will be tested based on the
Net Credited Service Date (NCSD) and the selected college of the registrants. Once the seniority determination for each college has been made, the Next Step Program will begin sending
invitation letters for testing in January 2010.
*Note for CUNY applicants
The CUNY colleges are
Bronx CC, NYC Technical College in Brooklyn and Queensborough CC, all other colleges are SUNY schools
If you have previously tested at your CUNY college and
were not successful in all four sections of the qualifying tests, you may be required to take remediation in order to be retested by the college. The Next Step Office cannot schedule you to be retested or for your remediation course, you will
need to contact the Program Coordinator at your registered college, to make those
arrangements.

Your remediation course and the successful retesting of any/all portions of the test must be completed by the end of the Fall 2011 test cycle, which closes on March 5, 2010. If you have not completed your remediation and retesting on or before that date, your test scores will not be applied to the Fall 2011 semester.
As the process moves forward, updates will be posted to our website,
so check back often.
